Site Redesign Mockup

I was once again caught unaware by the public holiday of Labor Day on Friday, but I’m gradually learning—I had food for Friday and breakfast for Saturday on hand to last me through the lack of grocery stores.

Monday I spent wrapping up the homework I procrastinated on, and took “warm and cold” portraits of Janine and Micha, but I need to take some more, better ones, for next Monday. Tuesday I got up early to learn how to develop photos in a darkroom, which I’d never done before. It was exciting to see the photo paper develop in the chemicals, like those “add water” coloring books. After a while it got kind of tedious—ten minutes of developing just to find out you couldn’t quite read the text in the background and the paper wasn’t quite straight when we exposed it—and I’ll stick to Photoshop, thank you very much. Definitely educational to do it by hand though!

I have a site redesign mockup that I’m feeling good about right now, and before I continue forward, I’d like feedback from anyone willing. Does the style work? Can you read the type? Do you have suggestions for “subtle details” that will add quality and contribute to the theme? Do you understand the interface? Do you think the year on the art items makes sense, would you prefer to have some other information there or not have it at all?

Please leave comments about the design or email them to me!

Pretty, a little busy for my taste (with three arts to focus on at once) but I like the general design.
