Saturday I biked out 15km to Wörlitz for the day with Janine. Dessau and Wörlitz are in the “Gartenreich,” a UNESCO park where the rich lords used to go strolling or on vacation or whatever. The park at Wörlitz has a bunch of mansions and churches and little romantic-looking buildings. In fact, everything looks like it’s out of a Romantic movement painting. The gardens are carefully constructed to look wild but with artful lines of sight to the Grecian temples on hilltops or down the canals draped with blooming flowers.
It was a perfect day – about 70º and sunny, with postcard-perfect clouds and a little breezy. We packed a lunch and spent most of the day wandering around and being ferried across the lakes and taking massive numbers of pictures and eating ice cream. ^^ Hence, a photo recounting of the day:

For an inside view of the tower, see here.

For another view of ceiling clock, see here. The new lens hood doesn’t work 100% of the time. :(

For Venus with skin problems, see here.

As you can see, I enjoyed the exploring!

See another picture of owl man. In the afternoon I broke out my macro lens and we had fun taking pictures of the plants.

The ducks were quite obliging when we wanted to take photos. See more photos of obliging water fowl. And water lilies.

All in all, it was a pretty good day.

For some more pictures, see here, here, here, here, and here. I got tired of formatting all of them into my blog.
