Photos I Thought Were Funny At The Time

So, I’m back in lovely central Illinois, with yet another reason to wonder why I came home: humidity. Illinois is freaking hot after summer in Europe. I see why air conditioning is much more prevalent here… Anyway, my excuses for this post:

  • Between lack of sleep and too much stress, my brain hasn’t been functioning properly.
  • Because of end-of-the-semester stress and leaving Germany, I’ve needed something to laugh about.
  • I’m too easily amused.
  • My brain needs a good scrubbing.

Some of these have explanations; some don’t need them; some are bad enough and the less said about them, the better.

From Berlin:

the German countryside reminds me of the midwest, and also of the art from the Settlers board game.

East Germans and their Trabis... I loved the way every time a Trabi drove by, any German I was with point out to me that it was one of the ten-year cars.

Französischer Dom
Who thought building two essentially identical churches across the plaza from each other would be a good idea?

It kind of puts you to shame when the Germans show more interest in American Indians than Americans do.

Sculptures in Paris:

After several days in Paris, with all these sculptures so conveniently covered by rags blowing so conveniently in the wind, I had to wonder: did they use glue when the models were posing? Seriously, either carve the figures in detail, or just put shorts on them, jeeze. It gets a little silly.

German/European Advertising:

German advertisements fascinate me, they seem rather different from American advertising. After four months in Germany, I would finally agree that Americans are really unnecessarily prudish about their sexuality. Though as an American I still find it a bit odd haha.

This makes me cry inside... I don't like Disney owning Pixar. :(
I couldn't believe it when I saw this on cigarette packages in Europe.
