Commandments

In response to reading The Happiness Project, I decided to follow the author’s idea of writing down wise statements or commandments to herself. Since she is clear that these lists are very personal to your needs and style of living, I’ve been trying to gather some of my own in no particular order. Are there other guidelines in your life that you work to follow?

  • Be more generous.
  • Believe in inherent worth + dignity.
  • Make more memories.
  • Be content in the present.
  • Find what things make you happy.
  • Inspire people.
  • Things that go wrong often make good memories.
  • Pay attention to energy levels.
  • Things have a way of turning out for the best.
  • Search for your truth + meaning.
  • Act the way you want to feel.
  • Do favors.
  • People don’t notice mistakes as much as you think.
  • Keep things in order.
  • Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.
  • Address problems directly and calmly.
  • You will never be this age again.
  • The only person I can change is myself.
  • Remember to enjoy the sunshine.

These are great. Thanks for sharing them. I’m big on gratitude and being patient with myself, that is giving myself a break when things are hard.
