I took a trip to Boston for the long weekend of the 4th to visit my friend Piyush. It was blazingly hot and humid so I didn’t get to see as much of the city as I’d hoped, but we had a nice time hanging out, especially our visit to the beach Friday morning. I ended up with weird sunburns, but I also ended up with some shells and my swimsuit got its first taste of the sea!
Our first stop was a diner that Piyush likes to visit for breakfast. The perfectly traditional interior made me wish I had a lot more opportunity to photograph it, but since we were already getting a slow start and I didn’t know how the people there would react to me taking lots of photos, I restrained myself.
Having finished breakfast, we headed up to Salisbury Beach Reservation. I didn’t take too many photos there either, since we didn’t have anywhere safe to leave my camera while we frolicked in the waves, other than in the trunk of the car.
I think the last time I was at a beach I was about 14… so it was fun to visit this one. It was pretty beach-like, and was pleasant especially given how hot the day was.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention how excited I was to be in New England again, even in its comparatively diluted form there! I love the smell off the trees and the large amounts of granite everywhere, which brings up lots and lots of memories of exploring and visiting with my grandparents. Poor Piyush had to spend a certain amount of time listening to me exclaim over the patterns the grains of sand made due to their different compositions, and I enjoyed looking at all the different colors that came out in the highway cuts as we drove around.
