Weather Poetry

I’ve been finding that my pseudo-daily walks up the driveway and back at work have been a good time to ponder the weather, and decided to try to be a bit more concerted than usual in choosing poetry topics: a set of weather poems. Go Padda!

I’ve spent most of the year at work making iOS games/apps – and after almost a year of work, Go Padda has been released! Go Padda is a physics slider game in which you race down hills to collect flies and gain speed to fly over the landscape. Touching the screen hunkers Padda down to his leaf so he’s more aerodynamic for the downhills – but slows his climb on the uphills, so (more…)

Violin Photos

Since borrowing more sturdy lighting equipment from Steve of the Saturday photo group, I got a chance to take more portraits. Unfortunately, the concept I had wanted to photograph really didn’t work out – in fact, I’m not even going to share a single attempt in that direction. But photographing Tyler with his violin was pretty fun all the same, and I think some of the photos came out well, even if they weren’t conforming to the intention of the shoot. (more…)

Tiled Patterns

I’ve lately discovered how much fun it is to doodle some scribbly designs and plop them in a blank Photoshop canvas, shuffle the pieces around, and make a little pattern. I did most of them in grayscale so you can just use Screen/Multiply on them. Here’s some tiled patterns I made for free download. (more…)

Peggy’s Wedding I

Labor Day weekend saw me in Chicago for my childhood friend Peggy’s wedding. I took some photos but was too busy enjoying the wedding to be particularly purposeful about it. Friday night we went to Giordano’s for pizza with her extended family and a few friends. The pizza was good and so was the opportunity to get to know most of the faces that I’d be seeing the rest of the weekend. (more…)
