December 1 was the first read-through of the script for Firstlight Players’ 2014 production. The production will be the musical “Death Takes A Holiday,” performances the fourth weekend in March, at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester. It’s pretty exciting, since I’m in the Ensemble and several of my friends are also going to be involved with the show – plus new ones I’m sure I’ll be making!
A week before the first script reading, I was contacted and asked if I would also take photos for the show, so they made sure there was as much light in the room as possible and I took my camera along. I had a ton of fun, and Michael (“Fidele”) was almost as excited about having someone to talk to about cameras as I was to be taking everyone’s pictures!
The lighting turned out to be good, although I had to turn the ISO up to at least 800. These were all shot mostly at 1/60 or 1/80 at f3.5 to 6.3 with my 60mm lens.
Most people were not too animated except when they were reading, but it was cool to see how each reacted to the script and the music and so on. It took a lot of moving around the very long table, but I really enjoyed the opportunity to photograph people doing their thing like that.
