My friend Marissa has been holding “crafternoons” once a month on Sundays, which is a lovely almost-tea-party way to get work done on our lady projects. Having essentially finished my study abroad scrapbook project started in 2009 (!!!), I needed a new project to start – perhaps something that wouldn’t take four years. I grabbed a skein of sweet lacy variegated novelty yarn and made a sort of wonky dress-up scarf.

It’s hard to get a good picture of it, but I had a good time working beads and different thread and ribbon and stuff into it. I was inspired by some real works of art at the Lilac Festival in Rochester, which had all sorts of cool things in them and were much more attractive and artistic scarves than this one. I did make some earrings to match it though, since I quite liked the shiny black diamond-shaped beads.

I’ve been doing a fair bit of knitting since being laid off, actually, so here are a few other projects…

I made hats for a couple of friends, and fingerless glove things (which I personally think work way better than those USB hand warmer gloves I’ve seen going around the internet) for my Cyan Chat friend Novah.

The hat looks nice and the scarf is cute.

Thanks! I definitely think my hats need some more work … they’re hard to get sized right, and for some reason I have trouble being patient until they’re big enough. Maybe I should make one for myself next…
