Parsley Lemon Tilapia

I decided to take a stab at food photography. This is a nice easy little recipe which is not too expensive what with the packages of frozen tilapia available at Wegmans. It’s not too sensitive a recipe either, just get the fish cooked right and the flour mixed in well. The tilapia topping has a sort of warm-but-fresh taste suitable for any time of year and is very easy to make quickly. (more…)

Modeling books

I got to be a model again recently, which was pretty fun. After seeing my high school librarian’s post on Facebook about stock photos with women pointedly not reading the books in their photos, it was perhaps forefront in my mind that I should not look like a complete ditz with my book. I was quite excited to bring the old bilingual book of German poetry I was recently given by a friend’s mother – (more…)

Fall Festival

Over the weekend I was a guest of Ruby Foote at the Genesee Country Village & Museum, a local living history site, for their annual Fall Festival and agricultural fair. Ruby is the village photographer, so it was cool to go around and meet the interpreters from her inside point of view. Fantasy Places

Sometimes I like drawing maps of made-up places.

I’ve been finding that my pseudo-daily walks up the driveway and back at work have been a good time to ponder the weather, and decided to try to be a bit more concerted than usual in choosing poetry topics: a set of weather poems. I feel like “weather” may be a bit trite, but I was inspired and decided to try my hand at it all (more…)

Violin Photos

Since borrowing more sturdy lighting equipment from Steve of the Saturday photo group, I got a chance to take more portraits. Unfortunately, the concept I had wanted to photograph really didn’t work out – in fact, I’m not even going to share a single attempt in that direction. But photographing Tyler with his violin was pretty fun all the same, and I think some of the photos came out well, even if they weren’t conforming to the intention of the shoot. (more…)

Peggy’s Wedding I

Labor Day weekend saw me in Chicago for my childhood friend Peggy’s wedding. I took some photos but was too busy enjoying the wedding to be particularly purposeful about it. Friday night we went to Giordano’s for pizza with her extended family and a few friends. The pizza was good and so was the opportunity to get to know most of the faces that I’d be seeing the rest of the weekend. (more…)
