Turtle Sun Day

Monday had some incredible weather for mid-March – at least 70º and sunny. I went to the Pandapas Pond trails and found that all the turtles were out enjoying it too. It was warm enough that I stopped at the store on the way back and got ice cream to cool off! Having my new zoom lens for days like this is really great, since it allows me to take (more…)

Being UUy

I’ve been getting an opportunity to do a lot of spiritual learning lately. My family gave me a couple of books of Unitarian Universalist meditations and a copy of the hymnal, which has beautiful readings in the back from all sorts of traditions and prophetic sources. Visting with the bro

I went down to Charleston to visit my brother for the weekend before Thanksgiving and watch large amounts of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I got a lot of knitting done. We had a good visit with some tasty food, and the weather Saturday was really gorgeous, so we went for a walk around the park near the nuclear school where he’s been doing training. I’m a pretty innocent person. I’ve only ever gotten a ticket for the time when I didn’t read the sign when parking near a concert venue to see TMBG for my birthday. Blue Elm Scarf

I made this scarf after buying just one skein of a great sapphire blue superwash yarn for my dad, and realizing I probably needed a second skein to have enough for a warm scarf. Another skein of superwash merino wool to the rescue, this time a sort of periwinkle variegated color. But how to combine them in a way that would look nice on both sides and not be cumbersomely thick? (more…)
