Blue Boat Home

I mentioned in passing that I’m learning a new song – “Blue Boat Home” by Peter Mayer – for my singing lessons. I love the song, it’s probably one of my favorite Unitariany songs, though admittedly the version I’m familiar with is Priscilla Herdman‘s cello-heavy arrangement. To help me learn to sing more expressively, my teacher asked me to remember the song is poetry, and to “write a (more…)

Life Update

Life has been pretty reasonable lately. It fluctuates between periods of tedium and elation depending largely on whether I’m doing things with my friends, but as you can probably tell from the blog posts, the sunny side has been largely winning, and I’ve been getting a lot of mental stimulation to write about. Market in the Morning

Musical Shots

I did another photo shoot, this time of my friend Thom Snell who runs Sunday music at church, which let me get a different setting than the ones of Kristy and Anna in my living room. I wanted to get more “dignified music director” photos to contrast the goofy ones of them from last time. He was a willing model in spite of my myriad cheapest-possible-flash-tripod and general lighting issues, (more…)

Minor Acoustic Singing

I really like vocal music. I don’t know how varied/developed my taste actually is, since I don’t know many people with this in common to share new things with. I like a cappella, madrigals, sea chanties and folk music. According to Pandora, these are some elements I like: (more…)

My Favorite Movies

Like everybody else, I have some movies I love and can watch over and over again. Now I will inflict you with my opinions about them!

  • V for Vendetta: This movie is basically the perfect storm of my favorite elements in a movie. There is badass fighting, beautiful cinematography, characters with backstories, breathtaking charismatic writing, and a little romance. Then there are some (more…)
